What people are saying about Salt & Light Collective…

  • "An amazing studio that is such a great addition to our community. I scheduled a private scout cooking event with Marisa and it was so well organized and our scouts learned a lot about kitchen safety and food prep, as well as learning some great recipes! Can’t wait to come back!"

    – Alana G.

  • "I recommend Salt and Light if you are looking for a cooking camp or class this summer! I searched and found Salt and Light Collective and immediately signed my oldest who LOVES to cook! He has had a blast! Each day they make 3-4 recipes (lunch included). It has been such a special treat this week for us to try the recipes he brings home to share too!"

    – Katie F.

  • "We needed a last minute venue for my baby shower and Salt and Light was the perfect place for us to gather! Marissa was great to work with and so understanding of our situation. We had plenty of time to set up and were able to use the linens and dishes on site. I highly recommend using Salt and Light for your next get together. We had about 20 people attend and it was the perfect space!"

    – Andi S.

  • "The kids learned so much at the Summer cooking camp! The staff is so friendly and it was well worth the money with all the delicious food that came home!!!"

    – Michele W.

  • "Went here for a calligraphy class and it was a great experience! The instructor was informative and personable. The food was delicious and I would definitely come back here for another class!"

    – Summer H.

  • "Our son attended a cooking camp and absolutely loved it. He learned new cooking skills and even brought home a whole calzone they made on their last day of camp. A great place for kids to learn new skills and meet new friends."

  • "I can't say enough good things about Salt & Light Collective. I had the best time learning to make tamales, Spanish rice and cilantro chimichurri sauce. The class was worth every penny and the time flew by because I was having fun. I can't wait to attend more classes."

    – Jennifer H.

  • "My sister and I attended the cookie decorating class in the Fall. It was a terrific experience. We learned so many new techniques that we were able to use for Christmas cookie season! We loved it all so much that we returned for Tamale date night with our spouses! Marissa had all the delicious ingredients already prepped, along with a delicious meal for us to enjoy. We all had a great time making our own favorite tamale versions and went home with full bellies and a dozen tamales to enjoy at home. Marissa is the most gracious hostess and was willing to share all her knowledge, expertise and recipes. I highly recommend Salt and Light and look forward to joining Marissa and her partners for future classes."

    – Deborah L.

  • "Marissa went out of her way to make this party a success! My daughter requested a cupcake decorating party and boy did Marissa deliver! The venue in and of itself was ridiculously cute but it was made even better by Marissa walking the kids through how to bake a cupcake and then setting out tons of decorating supplies for the kids to create their own puppy cupcake. 10/10 would recommend and will absolutely be back in the future!"

    – Ginnie R.

  • "Seven friends and I took a tamale class with Marissa. The class was so amazing, she taught us to make salsa, Spanish rice and the absolute best tamales that I have ever eaten. She was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. It was such an amazing experience! If you ever get the chance to take one of her classes, you won’t be disappointed!"

  • "Both of my children have benefitted from cooking classes with Marissa - in a number of ways. They have come to feel so comfortable and confident in the kitchen. Perhaps most notably, having them in a kitchen other than ours gave them each a nudge to try things that they hadn’t tried before, and several of the recipes from the class have made it into our regular rotation. They learned that it’s okay to try something and not end up liking it, and it took a great deal of pressure and uncertainty away from the process of trying something new. They both developed a respect for the work involved in keeping them fed, as well as a joy in making good food themselves. Marissa is like an instant aunt, encouraging and kind and fun, and my children, who are often shy at first, warmed to her immediately."

    — Jenny E.

  • “I've attended several of Marissa's tamale workshops in the past. She is an excellent teacher and great at encouraging even the "cooking-challenged" like myself. What I enjoy most about these workshops is the opportunity to gather with old friends (and make new ones) while learning and improving my tamale making skills. Salt and Light Collective provides these opportunities for people - in a great location in Old Town Keller, adding flavor, fun, and beautiful fellowship to the local community."
